A japamala is a string of a 108 prayer beads tied into one by a sumeru for the spiritual practice known as ‘japa’. The 108 prayers beads symbolize the 108 different names of Bhagwan. It is used for keeping count while reciting, chanting, or mentally repeating a mantra or the name or names of Bhagwan.
