Date & Tamarind Chutney

Ingredients

  • 25g tamarind
  • 30g dates, pitted
  • 4 teaspoons sugar or Shayona Jaggery
  • ½ teaspoon chilli powder
  • ½ teaspoon cumin powder
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 375 ml water

Instructions

  • Wash the tamarind and dates, removing any seeds.

  • In a small saucepan, combine tamarind, dates, sugar or Shayona Jaggery, salt, and water.

  • Bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes until soft.

  • Transfer the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth. Strain to remove any fibrous bits.

  • Stir in the chilli powder and cumin powder.

Serve

Serve as a tangy-sweet accompaniment to snacks like samosas, dhokla, or pakoras.

Approximately 10-20 minutes, including preparation and cooking. Cooking time may vary with larger quantities.
